Once your MM2H application is approved, you have 90 days to visit Malaysia to complete your visa endorsement. As of mid-October 2025, we advise budgeting at least 6 working days in Malaysia to complete the process comfortably β€” please check with us before booking your flight ticket.

Before You Depart β€” Pre-Arrival Checklist

  • 1Pre-arrival bank account opening β€” where possible, start this process before you fly.
  • 2Prepare your fund transfer from your home country, and check with your home bank for any transfer restrictions well in advance.
  • 3Check your global insurance coverage. If your existing policy already covers Malaysia, you won't need to purchase local insurance β€” otherwise, you'll need a Malaysian medical insurance/health plan upon arrival.
  • 4Buy your flight ticket (a one-way ticket is acceptable to Malaysian Immigration) and inform your agent of your arrival date and time.
  • 5Note: if you choose to open your bank account after arriving in Malaysia instead, expect 1–3 days before the account is active and ready to accept an overseas fund transfer.

The MM2H Visa Endorsement Timeline

What to expect once you arrive in Malaysia to complete your visa endorsement.

Day 1

Bank Account & Medical Screening

  • Open a local bank account and, once activated, transfer the required funds β€” ideally completed the same day.
  • In the afternoon, undergo a simple medical screening; the report is usually available the same day or the following day.
  • Apply for commercial medical insurance for all applicants (policy usually issued Day 2 or Day 3).

Day 2

Awaiting Confirmation

  • Await confirmation of your fund transfer and issuance of your insurance policy.

Day 3

Lien Letter & Passport Collection

  • The bank issues a Lien Letter, and the insurance company provides the finalized policy.
  • Our team collects your passport on this day.

Day 4

Visa Endorsement Day

  • In most cases, your MM2H visa endorsement is completed on this day β€” though in certain circumstances it may be finalized on Day 5 instead.

Day 5

Standby Day

  • Kept free as a standby day, in case additional time is needed for completion or collection.

Important β€” book your appointment before your flight

Before purchasing your flight ticket, please inform us in advance so we can secure an appointment date through the Immigration Department of Malaysia's online system.

If no appointment date is available yet, please do not purchase your flight ticket until confirmation has been received.
