MM2H received 12,495 applicants from Oct 2024 until 31st March 2026. A Record Breaking response.

I have been closely monitoring the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme as well as Malaysia’s property market data for a long time. Today, let’s take a look at the market response to the latest MM2H programme launched in September 2024.

Under this latest batch of the MM2H programme, property purchase has become one of the mandatory application requirements. Despite this, the number of applicants has continued to surge, reaching record-breaking levels since the programme’s inception in 2002. As of 31 March 2026, within just 1 year and 7 months, a total of 12,495 applications have been received. In comparison, the previous peak occurred in 2017, with 6,196 applications recorded that year.

Based on the current rankings, Chinese-speaking regions clearly dominate. Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong together account for 9,343 applicants, representing 74.8% of the total. Among them, China alone contributes more than half at 53.7%.

From Western countries, the main contributors are the United States (365 applicants) and the United Kingdom (272 applicants). In East Asia, South Korea (235 applicants) and Japan (183 applicants) remain consistently among the top participating countries.

One surprising entry in the top 10 is Bangladesh, with 333 applicants.

Since 2015, China has consistently held the top position. Most of the other countries in the top 10 remain traditional MM2H applicant sources. To date, passport holders from more than 33 countries and regions have successfully applied for and been approved under the MM2H programme.
